Bio:

Instrumentalist, composer, producer, and educator - Sam Little is a versatile artist, journeyman bassist, and asset in any musical situation. He has opened for the jazz bass luminary Christian McBride, as well as the great Israeli saxophonist and clarinetist Anat Cohen. He has also shared the stage with a litany of jazz artists, both local and international, and played on the Polaris Prize-nominated album Hypnotic by Super Duty Tough Work. Having recently returned to Canada from a prolonged engagement in Paris working with esteemed bassist Théo Girard, Sam is on the cusp of releasing two albums. The first, Existentiale, inspired by his time in Paris this album showcases Sam's compositional voice for the first time. The second, Discount Everything, is a collaboration with producer Bluebloods and features a veritable who's who of Canadian pop musicians. Currently completing a DMA at the University of Toronto, Sam has spent the last few years honing his teaching and research chops. His dissertation examines the interplay between attention and interaction in jazz improvisation.
